About Us
Pelican Engineering was founded by Ernest Crump when the army no longer required his services as a dispatch rider at the end of the First World War. Searching for an original name for his new business, he remembered his regimental mascot, the Pelican, and transferred the name to his new business hoping it would bring him good fortune there too.
The company began by converting surplus military trucks into civilian use. In 1934 Pelican became the first official Foden Trucks dealer and now over 100 years later trucks are still a very important part of our business with our DAF and MAN truck dealerships supporting Yorkshire truck operators.
Yutong
Since 2014, we have proudly collaborated with Yutong, the world’s no. 1 bus manufacturer renowned for their innovation and quality in the bus and coach industry. We offer products and services designed to support our customer’s transition to a sustainable transport future, including ultra-low emission diesel coaches and the widest range of electric buses, along with a range of support services, such as training and charging solutions.
Yutong has been building zero emission vehicles since 1999. There are now over 200,000 zero emission Yutong vehicles operating in 100 different countries around the world which, collectively have completed over 40 billion kms of operation. No other manufacturer of electric buses anywhere in the world can match this level of technical know-how and experience. The company is committed to creating more convenient, safe, comfortable and green transport throughout the world.
DAF
Our DAF franchise provides comprehensive maintenance and parts for DAF trucks, ensuring optimal performance and reliability. Our service and parts departments are open 24/7 supporting DAF operators throughout Yorkshire. Our body shop offers a full accident repair service and chassis straightening meeting all current DAF standards.
MAN
Operating as an official MAN franchise, Pelican Engineering offer 24/7 parts and service support, along with expert accident repairs, to maintain the safety and efficiency of your MAN vehicles.
Pelican AEAUTO is dedicated to advancing the adoption of electric vehicles by supplying cutting-edge equipment and technologies. We specialise in providing safe and affordable EV chargers, energy storage systems and EV conversion kits to support the growing demand for sustainable transportation solutions. We can supply some of the AEAUTO charger range from stock and are able to offer engineering support to provide a custom equipment design for specific customer projects.
Northern Truck and Trailer Parts serves as a leading parts supplier in North Yorkshire. With an extensive inventory of over £250k worth of truck and trailer parts, we support truck operators and independent workshops throughout North Yorkshire, ensuring they have access to the components they need to keep their vehicles running smoothly.
Pelican EVAutomotive Training offers courses and training for electric and hybrid vehicle technicians; either in-house or on-site training. The training includes IMI Level 2 Award in Preparing Heavy Electric/Hybrid Vehicle for Repair (including Bus and Coach), IMI Level 3 Award in Heavy Electric/Hybrid Vehicle System Repair and Replacement (including Bus and Coach) and IRTEC Inspection Technician Bus and Coach.
